"Souper" Bowl Time! - February 23rd LAST SUNDAY TO DONATE
Show your spirit for our seminarians!!! We will be collecting monetary donations Super Bowl Sunday, February 9 and Sunday, February 16 for the food pantry at the Gettysburg campus of United Lutheran Seminary. Look for the large soup pot with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles logos to place your donations. Giant Food Store and Weis Market gift cards will be purchased for the food pantry at the Gettysburg campus, giving the coordinators the ability to accommodate dietary restrictions and purchase perishable foods for the seminary students.
Please write "Souper" Bowl Sunday on the memo line on your check payable to St Peter's Lutheran Church and, for cash donations, write "Souper" Bowl Sunday on the envelope with your name (and your envelope # if you want this to be included in your giving statement).
Again, thank you for your generosity as we reach out beyond our community. Any questions, see Clydene.
Commemoration for Sunday, February 23, 2025
Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna, martyr, died 156
Because he is said to have been known by John, the author of Revelation, as well as the important early church fathers Irenaeus and Ignatius, Polycarp serves as a vital link in church history. He was burned at the stake at age 86 for refusing to renounce his faith.
St. Peter’s Highspire is located on the original and ancestral homelands of the Susquehannock peoples and we give thanks for their presence here since time immemorial. We also wish to recognize and honor all our Indigenous siblings who have and continue to call this land their home.
